Data are the most fundamental building blocks of business intelligence. But 70% of organizations believe their data is not used to its fullest extent. Data that is not fully utilized is typically attributed to “dark data.”  “Dark data” is data that has been collected but not utilized for business intelligence. For example, a portable document format (pdf) form that documents utilization for a particular pay period but does not allow for automated calculation of cumulative totals for the project or the contractor.
